Catalina Jazz Festival 2009

The Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival is a truly special time to visit the island. With so menu great venues in the city of Avalon, you can always discover a few gems during your visit that aren't necessarily on the main concert listings. The Catalina Casino Ballroom is the main venue, with concerts beginning the weekend of October 2nd-4th, and continuing until October 18th.

JazzTrax Weekend Series 1 The festival kicks off on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:30 PM with British keyboardist Oli Silk and Chicago Guitarist Nick Colionne live at the Casino ballroom. The rest of the weekend schedule is still being developed, but so far you can expect to see Guitarists Paul Brown & Marc Antoine, Saxophonist Najee and Saxophonist Michael Lington, Keyboardist. Gregg Karukas and Guitarist Earl Klugh close the weekend with a 7PM Sunday show at the Casino Ballroom.

Celebrating its 80th year, the Catalina Casino is a truly special place to be this for this years JazzTrax Festival. Unplugged Under the Stars at the Wrigley Ranch Another great event you should try to see happens every thursday night preceeding the weekend concerts. This years Unplugged Under the Stars at the Wrigley Ranch begins October 1 with PETER WHITE, the following thursday, October 8 featuring MINDI ABAIR, and October 15 with KEIKO MATSUI. The shows are held at the famous Wrigley Ranch on the far side of the Island in the historic and beautiful courtyard. You can purchase online tickets HERE.

The tickets are sold as part of the Wrigley Ranch Unpugged Under the Stars concert package. You will get to see Mrs. Wrigleys private booth next to the projectionist for viewing movies in private, and be taken up to the roof of the Casino to look down on the concert seating area. You will also be taken backstage to see where the artists have warmed up for the last many years.
